Celebrating the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

How did the Blue Rooster Team spend the holiday season? Celebrating and goofing off with friends and family, of course! On December 2nd, San Luis Obispo’s annual Holiday Parade, hosted by San Luis Obispo Downtown Association, kicked off the city’s official Christmas celebration. The theme for this year’s parade was “A Beary Merry Christmas”. Blue Roo and the Blue Rooster Team created a float festooned with a gigantic, stuffed and cardboard  bears. At first, Blue Roo was upset that another animal was stealing his spotlight, but was happy once one of the bears decided to carry him at the front of the float.

The parade was a huge success- San Luis Obispo residents flooded the streets and cheered on over 100 passing floats. The Blue Rooster Team (including customers and family members) all wore matching Blue Rooster sweatshirts and zany rooster hats. Everybody loved the hats. Jeff tried to give a hat to a boy in the crowd, and twenty more kids dove to grab it! Too bad there weren’t enough chicken hats for everyone!  The Blue Rooster team had the time of their lives dancing around with Blue Roo and wishing everyone a happy holiday season.

When Family comes to Roost for the Holidays…

Monday, December 19th, 2011

One of Blue Roo’s colorful relatives has made a trip to San Luis Obispo for the holidays.  Of course there is always excitement when family is coming to visit but sometimes it can be a bit too much especially when the relative is a bit colorful.  This may be the case with Blue Roo’s colorful cousin “Polychromatic Roo”.  Poly, as he is commonly known, says he loves the temperate climate, beautiful scenery, great feed and an abundant supply of his favorite wines while visiting his cousin Blue Roo.

Poly’s behavior can be a bit abrasive as he likes to crow very early and particularly shrill even after a late night strutting around the coop.  There will be no sleeping late during the holidays for Blue Roo with cousin Poly around.  Poly tends to like to overindulge a bit during the holidays, too.  He can get a bit obnoxious and launch into belligerent discussions on sensitive matters, inappropriate comments around the hens and even wear an occasional lamp shade.  Otherwise, Blue Roo is excited to have his cousin visiting and looks forward to a Happy Holiday season with his friends and family.  He wishes all of his followers a great Holiday season, too.  Cheers from Blue Roo!

Jeff and Blue Roo presenting Dave his reward

As you may recall, when Blue Roo was missing, we asked for concerned citizens to “like” Blue Roo’s missing poster on Facebook to help raise awareness of Blue Roo’s missing status.  As a reward for expressing concern for Blue Roo’s whereabouts, these friends were entered in a raffle to win an IPOD Nano.  Well we have a winner and a hero as far as Blue Roo is concerned.  His name is: Dave Mulvey of American Perspective Bank.  Congratulations to Dave and thank you to all who participated in our contest!

Blue Roo visits Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Sharon, Craig and Lisa~ MB Chamber Team

Blue Roo felt right at home at the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber Team accompanied by Bell, an enthusiastic chihuahua, and Walter, a charismatic tortoise greeted Blue Roo with gusto.   They all enjoyed a beautiful day hanging out on the deck overlooking Morro Bay, the Sand Spit and the Rock. While Blue Roo perched and basked in the Morro Bay afternoon sun with his new friends, he thought, life is good on the Central Coast.  He was also very thankful to be a chicken and a telecom mascot on the day before Thanksgiving.

EPISODE 29- What Blue Roo Thinks About Black Friday

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Blue Roo is soooo happy to be back with family and friends after his month-long kidnapping. After being gone for so long, Blue Roo realizes how much he has to be thankful for- a warm  nest, an abundance of corn and other treats, and a team that loves him. He cannot wait for Thanksgiving! However, as a bird, he always gets a little nervous around this time, so he encourages everyone to eat plenty of vegetables and mashed potatoes.

Our Regal Rooster

However, there is one thing about the holiday season that Roo doesn’t particularly like: Black Friday.

According to Time, the term “Black Friday” was originally used during the great decrease in gold prices that caused the 1864 stock-market panic. It was later used to describe the profits represented by black ink on accounting balance sheets. By the 1990s, the phrase “Black Friday” was widely accepted as the day after Thanksgiving when shoppers flock to retail stores to start buying for the holiday season.

The title “Black Friday” seems a little too dark for a day during the holiday season. Blue Roo wants to change it, and he wants YOUR help! Maybe we should start calling it something more colorful, more cheerful, or more filled with the holiday spirit.

What is a better name for “Black Friday”?

Here are just a few of our ideas:

EPISODE 28- Blue Roo Returns!!

Friday, November 11th, 2011

At last, our beloved Blue Roo is back!! The Blue Rooster Team celebrated greatly as our favorite rooster returned on Friday.

The Blue Rooster Team celebrates Roo's return.

Over a month ago, Blue Roo was mysteriously kidnapped, and we were SO concerned for his safety. His kidnappers never revealed themselves, but they took good care of him. They left him blindfolded and sitting comfortably by the fireplace at Madonna Inn, and sent us a message to pick him up.  He returned to the office clucking happily, with feathers more lustrous than usual.

Blue Roo is so happy to be back with his favorite people in the world (us, of course!), and is very grateful for everyone who searched for him during the time of his disappearance. In fact, Blue Roo insists on being the one to give the iPod Nano to the winner of our contest (Who we will be announcing shortly).

Needless to say, the office will be loud with rooster crows once again!

EPISODE 28- Roo’s Still Missing- Keep Your Eyes Open!

EPISODE 27- Help Us Get Back Our Rooster!

Friday, October 21st, 2011

There is still no sign of Blue Roo here at the Blue Rooster Office. We’re beginning to think that his kidnappers aren’t going to give him back without a little persuasion, so we’re starting something new.

We’re reposting Blue Roo’s missing poster (from last week’s post) on Facebook, so please like the photo and share it. In doing this, you will be entered into a drawing to win a FREE IPOD NANO!

Here’s what to do to enter:

1. Like Blue Rooster Telecom’s Facebook Page if you have not done so yet

2. Like & Share the photo of Blue Roo’s missing poster

3. Write a comment in the box below the photo saying that you shared the link

4. That’s it! Check back to see how many people are helping us look for Blue Roo!

With your help, we can get back our rooster!

EPISODE 26- Worried Sick About Our Roo

Friday, October 14th, 2011

It’s been two weeks since we’ve seen Blue Roo. The Blue Rooster Telecom Team is worried sick. We miss his loud crow, his happy-go-lucky presence in the office, and even his mischievous practical jokes we’ve become so accustomed to.  According to the Facebook log he’s been allowed to keep, Roo’s kidnappers locked him up on Wednesday, and we haven’t heard anything from him since.

Friends and colleagues are showing their concern as well by organizing search parties around the Central Coast. (Check out Mary Verdin’s video on Blue Roo’s Facebook.)

We are hopeful that Blue Roo will be returned to us soon, but any and all information on his whereabouts or his kidnappers is greatly appreciated. Please contact us via Facebook.

EPISODE 25- Blue Roo Is Still Missing

Friday, October 7th, 2011

It’s been over a week since Blue Roo’s kidnapping, and all that we’ve seen of him are the pictures posted on Facebook by his kidnappers.  Here is a snapshot of what things look like in the Blue Rooster Telecom office today:

If you know anything concerning his whereabouts, please let us know through our Facebook page.

Communication is a critical component of the success of any business, and it is most certainly true with our 2300 member agricultural supply cooperative, that is why we chose Blue Rooster for our telecommunication needs. Their customer service is second to none and they are available to us 24 hours a day should we need them. In my position I worry about a great many things, but our phone service is not one of them due to the excellent service provided by Blue Rooster’s team of professionals.
